(1036) Ganymed = 1924 TD

This asteroid was discovered by Walter Baade at Bergedorf in October 23rd 1924 and named after the cup bearer of the gods of Olympus. Confusingly the spelling is different to that of the satellite of Jupiter. Ganymed is an Amor object, that is a Mars crosser. It has a highly excentric orbit with perihelion at 1.23AU and aphelion at 4.09AU.

G(1036) Ganymed is currently around magnitud 12. It reached perihelion in November and is now fading slowly.
