P/2002 K4 (NEAT)

C/2002 K4 (NEAT) was discovered on images from the NEAT telescope at Haleakala (Hawaii) on May 27th 2002 and confirned from NEAT at Mount Palomar on May 28th. The comet was magnitude 18.5, with a coma of 4 arcseconds diameter. The comet was found to have a Halley-type orbit with a period of 73.4 years and a retrograde orbit of inclination 94 degrees. Perihelion was passed on July 12th 2002 at 2.76AU.


The light curve
