Why is OJ287
interesting?
OJ287 is highly variable at all wavelengths from the radio to
x-rays (and possibly gamma
rays).
The variability can be extremely violent – half a magnitude,
or more, in less than an hour.
There is even a report of a 0.8 mag variation in the near-IR in 50
seconds!
